About Jack Hobson-Dupont

Jack Hobson-Dupont

He arrived by sailboat. He made a life on Nantucket.

Jack Hobson-Dupont first arrived on Nantucket in 1979 aboard his sailboat, Werewolf. Leaving New York behind, he made the island his home and became part of its music and art scene.

From his cottage studio in Madaket, Jack painted places that are distinctly Nantucket: the familiar silhouette of Brant Point Lighthouse, the meeting of sand and harbor water, a garden gate screened by greenery.

Working in acrylic, he built his scenes from clear shapes, carefully observed color, and visible brushwork. Broad passages of sky and water sit alongside small, deliberate details—sometimes achieved with a single coarse bristle.

His Nantucket, brought home

The current collection brings together four paintings made on the island: Slack Tide, Sconset Garden Gate, Hoisting the Gaff, and Turn of the Tide. Together, they offer different ways of seeing a familiar place, from open harbor views to a sheltered garden entrance.

ACK Island Art shares these paintings as made-to-order canvas prints. Each is a reproduction of Jack’s original artwork, printed on poly-cotton canvas and available stretched over wooden bars or with an added frame. Prints are produced and shipped directly by our print partner.
